Time for Tea in Oxfordshire

The annual Afternoon Tea Week is with us from August 9th to August 15th 2021. Drinking tea is a really British experience and what better to accompany it than with a selection of delicate sandwiches, scones with cream and jam and some dainty cakes?

Tea was first introduced into Britain during the 1660’s but only the aristocracy could afford to partake. 200 years later it was the fashion to have breakfast, a light lunch and dinner around 8pm. It was Anna, 7th Duchess of Bedford who confessed to having that “sinking feeling” mid afternoon so she took to ordering a tray of tea and cakes and invited friends to join her. It became a real social experience especially in the gardens of high society.

Where can you experience Afternoon Tea near us? There are local companies would deliver to Wisteria Cottage and all the following have pages on social media.
